About Us
Michael John of Liverpool has been a recognised training school since 1981
We offer quality training in a truly versatile profession with 90% of learners who achieve their NVQs continuing to find employment in the industry. Many learners go on to run their own businesses as successful salon owners on Merseyside.
We have always taken a hands-on approach and enjoy direct contact in the training of our learners. You will be working in a commercial salon for four days of the week to get actual experience and regular clients, and will be trained in a custom built training centre and salon.
If you were looking to join a profession where there is no shortage of work we will definitely be able to help get you ready for this with our excellent quality of training, professional staff and wide array of resources.

We recruit learners for: -
Alternative Curriculum aged 14 -16 years old
Hair, Beauty, Barbering, Foundation Learning aged 16 - 18 years old
Hair, Beauty, Barbering aged 19 - 25 years old; however, limited spaces are available.
Competition
Michael John hosts an annual Hair & Beauty Competition which takes place in numerous locations all over the city. All Michael John learners have the opportunity to enter the competition and show everyone there dynamic new skills & talents.
Michael John of Liverpool is the only training provider in Merseyside who has won UK hairdressing student of the year.
Teaching Staff
All our teaching staff are fully qualified within the hair, beauty, & barbering industry with all relevant teaching & assessing qualifications. We have our highly qualified basic & key skills tutors who have fully embedded key skills into the relevant vocational areas. We have mentors put in place for individual advice & guidance, e.g. child protection, ASN support, health & safety officers.

Apprentices allow you to invest in your business's future by encouraging a highly motivated & qualified work force. Training is always relevant to the needs of your sector, most of our tutors have all owned their own salon at some point and know exactly what it is you are looking for in a learner. When a new learner starts with your salon a Michael John Employer File will be given to you so that you can have all the relevant information you will ever need and is handy to keep all your apprentices information in.
