Vocational Education For School Pupils
A Michael John of Liverpool work-related vocational programmes for schools and their pupils are proving popular and successful.
The programme offered is dependant on school choice and individual assessment of the pupil. There are two distinct programmes offering a range of vocational choice:
NVQ Level One programmes in Hairdressing/ Barbering / Beauty Therapy / Nail Service
NVQ Level Two programmes in Hairdressing/ Barbering / Beauty Therapy / Nail Service
Successful achievement of a full NVQ is very much dependant on the time given to pupils to attend programmes and the pupils own efforts to progress and achieve.
Training programmes will be planned to suit individual needs and can be offered across one to five day per week durations.
As pupils progress they will develop skills & knowledge of the industry and an impressive portfolio demonstrating their competence in some or all of the following areas:
NVQ LEVEL ONE: Hairdressing/ Barbering
- Health and safety
- Communicating with clients and colleagues
- Assist with salon reception duties
- Teamwork and personal effectiveness
- Shampoo & conditioning hair
- Preparing for hair/ barbering services and maintaining work areas
- Assisting in perming/ colouring services
NVQ LEVEL ONE: Beauty Therapy/ Nail Services
- Health and safety
- Communicating with clients and colleagues
- Assist with salon reception duties
- Teamwork and personal effectiveness
- Assist with nail treatments on the hands
- Prepare and maintain the beauty therapy/ nail service work areas
- Assist with facial treatments
NVQ LEVEL TWO programmes will be offered to pupils whose initial assessment shows that an NVQ level one programme would not be demanding enough. Pupils will undertake training and assessment in Level 2 Units but unless sufficient time away from school is allocated it is unlikely a full NVQ 2 can be achieved. Pupils will build up UNITS of achievement which can be completed by undertaking a shortened Apprenticeship on school departure.
An NVQ Level 2 is equivalent to two GCSE'S.
Is There Anything Else I Need To Know?
To support learning Michael John of Liverpool has fully equipped learning suites which offer computer access; learner libraries; specialist literacy and numeracy delivery and much more.
All products and materials a pupil will need are provided within our training centres FREE OF CHARGE.
Future Opportunities?
When a pupil successfully completes their training plan they may have achieved accreditation in:- (Dependant on participation and duration)
City & Guilds NVQ Level 1 Certificate in their chosen route
City & Guilds Record of Achievement listing all UNITS achieved
Michael John of Liverpool Certificates which accredit individual strengths in aspects of personal effectiveness
Additional City & Guilds Adult Literacy and/or Numeracy certification (If supported by school)
