A Michael John of Liverpool Entry to Employment programme is structured around your own individual learning plan. Generally you will attend a Michael John training centre for two days per week - with two days per week in a placement suited to offer you work experience.
When we feel you are ready, your days in placement are expected to increase to enable you greater opportunity of becoming employed and progressing onto an Apprenticeship.
Entry to Employment programmes are not expected to run over twenty two weeks and most Michael John of Liverpool E2E learners are able to move on in much shorter timescales.
Your Entry to Employment programme will support you to develop in three core areas
Michael John of Liverpool specialise in delivery of Hairdressing/ Barbering/ Beauty Therapy/ Nail Service programmes and E2E learners will generally work towards UNITS of NVQ Level One in these areas.
It is important to note however that E2E is NOT VOCATIONALLY specific and should an E2E learner or their key worker feel this route is not the best choice to lead to successful progression we will use our partnerships and relations with other providers to ensure a more appropriate course of learning is implemented.
E2E is a very 'individual' programme offering intense support and can only be accessed following advice and agreement by your own Personal Connexions Advisor.
In college you will receive half a day practical training and half a day theory training.
In your practical class you will be observed doing practical tasks for each unit you are doing and will also do theory tests on some units you complete.
Your assessment will be against National Standards leading towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
You will be trained and assessed in your personal and social development skills.
During the programme you will be involved in enrichment activities which may include wall climbing, motivational training and team building activities.
You will be assessed by our skills for life tutors on your progression towards your literacy and numeracy skills.
Weekly phone calls will be made to your salon to ensure you have had full attendance.
An E2E passport will be produced to outline your individual programme and support needs. Your passport will be reviewed 4 weekly throughout the programme after your 6 weeks Initial Assessment period.
12 weekly visits will be made to your salon to monitor your progression.
To support your learning Michael John of Liverpool has fully equipped learning suites which offer computer access; learner libraries; specialist literacy and numeracy delivery and much more.
All the products and materials you will need are provided within our training centres FREE OF CHARGE.
Payment: you will receive EMA if you are entitled to it. Your EMA payment is made up of monies based on attendance and bonuses paid at intervals of your programme for progression and achievement.
If you are not entitled to EMA you will not be entitled to a bus pass, however, Michael John of Liverpool can provide you with an Arriva bus pass at a cost of £10 per week.
